What is a Psychopomp?

A psychopomp is a sacred guide who assists souls in their transition from life to death and beyond. Across cultures and time, psychopomps have been known by many names–

Regardless of the name, their role is the same—to serve as a bridge between worlds, offering compassionate guidance to souls navigating the liminal space between the seen and unseen.

Psychopomps work in the in-between—the sacred threshold between realms. They assist the dead in releasing attachments and moving toward the light, while also supporting the living in finding peace, closure, and meaning in the wake of loss. In this way, a psychopomp is not just a guide for the departed, but a healer for the grieving, the haunted, and the soul-weary.
